The National Weather Service in Medford has issued a Beach Hazards Statement for Sneaker Waves...which is in effect from Sunday morning through Sunday afternoon. * Hazards...Incoming long period west swell will produce the potential for dangerous sneaker waves. * Timing...The threat of sneaker waves will be elevated Sunday morning through Sunday afternoon...especially in the late morning and early afternoon. * Locations Include...All beaches in Curry, Coos, and Douglas Counties. * Potential Impacts...Large sneaker waves pose a life threatening risk. They arrive suddenly and can push water very far up the beach, sweeping people off their feet and into the ocean. They can also toss large logs and debris which may injure or crush people. Use extra caution.
