URGENT - WEATHER MESSAGE
National Weather Service Los Angeles/Oxnard CA
319 AM PST Tue Dec 5 2017

...EXTENDED PERIOD OF MODERATE TO STRONG SANTA ANA WINDS THROUGH
AT LEAST THURSDAY WITH PERIODS OF DAMAGING WINDS...

...PERIODS OF FREEZE AND HARD FREEZE THROUGH MID WEEK FOR WIND
PROTECTED AREAS...

.A strong surface high over the Great Basin will bring an
extended period of moderate to strong Santa Ana winds to
Southwest California through at least Thursday. The peak of this
wind event is expected to be today and again late Wednesday night
into Thursday. During these times, damaging wind gusts of 60 to
80 mph will be likely across the mountains, and damaging gusts
up to 60 mph will be possible across wind prone portions of the
coast and valleys in western Los Angeles and eastern Ventura
Counties. High wind watches and warnings will likely need to be
expanded for late Wednesday night into Thursday. This has the
potential to be the strongest and longest duration Santa Ana wind
event we have seen so far this season. The Santa Ana winds will
bring an extended period of extreme fire danger, with Red Flag
Warnings in effect for much of Los Angeles County and all of
Ventura County.

The influx of cold and very dry air will bring the potential for
freeze and hard freeze conditions early this morning and again
later tonight across wind sheltered interior valleys of San Luis
Obispo and Santa Barbara Counties as well as the Antelope and Ojai
Valleys. The Central Coast may also experience freezing
conditions late tonight.

National Weather Service Los Angeles/Oxnard CA

...EXTENDED PERIOD OF MODERATE TO STRONG SANTA ANA WINDS THROUGH
AT LEAST THURSDAY WITH PERIODS OF DAMAGING WINDS...

...PERIODS OF FREEZE AND HARD FREEZE THROUGH MID WEEK FOR WIND
PROTECTED AREAS...

.A strong surface high over the Great Basin will bring an
extended period of moderate to strong Santa Ana winds to
Southwest California through at least Thursday. The peak of this
wind event is expected to be today and again late Wednesday night
into Thursday. During these times, damaging wind gusts of 60 to
80 mph will be likely across the mountains, and damaging gusts up
to 60 mph will be possible across wind prone portions of the
coast and valleys in western Los Angeles and eastern Ventura

The influx of cold and very dry air will bring the potential for
freeze and hard freeze conditions again later tonight into early
Wednesday across wind sheltered interior valleys of San Luis
Obispo and Santa Barbara Counties as well as the Antelope and Ojai
Valleys. The Central Coast may also experience freezing
conditions later tonight.
