Warning for a portion of the following creek in northwest central
Indiana...


  Wildcat Creek...


.Wildcat Creek in the Lafayette area is rising fairly rapidly
and is expected to crest near flood stage tonight (Tuesday night).
Lowland flooding may briefly develop, subsiding late tonight and
Wednesday.


Precautionary/Preparedness Actions...

Motorists should never drive into flood water. Turn around and go 
another way. Keep children away from flooded areas. Recreational and 
agricultural interests should remain alert to changing river 
conditions.

.Lowland flooding will expand this week in western and southern
Indiana. Rainfall of one-half to over an inch on Monday night
will cause higher river levels and additional lowland flooding
along the Wabash and White Rivers.

At this time significant flooding is not anticipated. High water
will continue to affect low fallow agricultural fields, river
parks and possibly a few local roads. Flooding will persist all 
this week and extend into the week of January 22 in southwest
Indiana.

Precipitation totals of 1 to nearly 3 inches have fallen in
central and southern Indiana since January 10. Additional rain is
expected in southern Indiana on Thursday night.


Precautionary/Preparedness Actions...

Motorists should never drive into flood water. Turn around and go 
another way. Keep children away from flooded areas. Recreational and 
agricultural interests should remain alert to changing river 
conditions.

* Forecast...Rise above flood stage by early Friday morning and 
  continue to rise to near 19.5 feet by Tuesday morning. The river 
  will fall below flood stage by Wednesday early afternoon.
* At 20.0 feet...River is bankfull in all locations. All oil field 
  production ceases with the exception of pumping units on 
  substructures. Access to these are by boat only. Agricultural 
  losses increase dramatically.  Farmers move livestock to higher 
  ground. City of Mount Carmel leaves flood gates B and C in year
