...WIND ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 8 AM THIS MORNING TO 9 PM CST
THIS EVENING...

The National Weather Service in Lincoln has issued a Wind
Advisory, which is in effect from 8 AM this morning to 9 PM CST
this evening. 

* TIMING...Gusty southerly winds will occur ahead of a cold front
  early this morning, and will become even stronger northwest 
  winds behind a cold front later this morning and afternoon.
 
* WINDS...Peak values of 30 to 35 MPH can be expected during the
  morning hours. Then gusts will increase to 40 to 45 MPH at times
  from late morning into early evening with the strongest winds
  during the afternoon hours.
 
* IMPACTS...Those traveling early for the holiday week may find
  travel difficult on east-west highways this morning and then
  north-south highways this afternoon and early evening. In
  addition, any gusts in the 40 to 50 mph range could cause tree 
  limbs to fall, which could lead to a few power outages. 

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Wind Advisory means that sustain winds of 30 mph or higher are 
expected and winds gusts of 45 mph or higher. Winds this strong 
can make driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. 
Use extra caution.

...WIND ADVISORY IS CANCELLED...

The National Weather Service in Lincoln has cancelled the Wind
Advisory. 

Winds have decreased below advisory criteria, therefore the wind
advisory has been cancelled. Nevertheless, winds will continue to
be breezy tonight, especially in southeast Illinois, as they 
continue to gradually decrease. Expect northwest winds ranging
from 10 to 20 mph with gusts 20 to 35 mph this evening.
