Warning for the following rivers in Georgia...
Big Creek near Alpharetta affecting Forsyth and Fulton Counties
.Recent heavy rainfall has caused significant runoff into streams and
rivers which will cause flooding in some areas.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
All persons with interests along the river should monitor the latest
forecasts...and be prepared to take necessary precautions to protect
life and property.
The latest stage data was furnished in cooperation with the United
States Geological Survey.

The National Weather Service in Peachtree City has issued a
* Flood Warning for
The Big Creek near Alpharetta.
* From this evening until Thursday morning.
* At 8 PM Monday the stage was 6.3 feet...and rising.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 7 feet.
* Forecast to rise above flood stage by this evening and continue to
rise to near 9.7 feet by early Wednesday morning.The river will
fall below flood stage by early Thursday morning.
* At 10 feet...Minor flooding expands along the creek from near
Cumming to Alpharetta and Roswell. Backyards of homes off Seale
Drive and Gunter Court and portions of the Golf of Georgia are
under a foot of water. The Big Creek Greenway experiences
significant flooding up to 4 feet deep with closure of the paths.
This especially occurs upstream and downstream from the gage on
Kimball Bridge Road and Rock Mill Park. A large portion of the YMCA
Campground off Preston Ridge Road will be under a two feet of
water.

continue to rise to near 8.1 feet by this evening.The river will
fall below flood stage by tomorrow early afternoon.
* At 8 feet...Minor flooding continues to expand further into the
woodlands and fields along the creek from near Cumming in south
Forsyth County to Alpharetta and Roswell in north Fulton County.

* At 245 PM Tuesday the stage was 7.1 feet, and slowly rising.
* Minor flooding is occurring, and minor flooding is forecast to
continue.
* Flood stage is 7 feet.
* The river will continue rising, reaching around 7.4 feet early this
evening then begin falling later in the evening. The river will
fall below flood stage early Wednesday.
* At 7 feet, Flood Stage is reached with minor flooding of the
woodlands and fields beginning along the creek from Cumming in
Forsyth County to Alpharetta and Roswell in North Fulton County.
Flooding starts to effect portions of The Big Creek Greenway near
Alpharetta and some portions may become closed with around one foot
of water, especially upstream and downstream from the gage on
Kimball Bridge Road and near Rock Mill Park. Portions of the YMCA
Campground off Preston Ridge Road also begin to flood.

The Ocmulgee River near Macon.
* From Thursday morning until Friday afternoon.
* At 1030 PM this evening the stage was 13.0 feet...and falling before an
expected transition to rising again.
* Nonflood flooding is occurring and Minor flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 18 feet.
* Forecast to rise above flood stage by Thursday morning and continue
to rise to near 18.7 feet by Thursday early afternoon.The river
will fall below flood stage by late Friday morning.
* At 19 feet...Minor flooding continues. The Macon Greenway
Ocmulgee Heritage Trail will begin to flood in areas just north of
the Martin Luther King Boulevard bridge. The public should not use
this portion of the trail. In addition...the lowest sections of the
Charles Jones Gateway Park will flood. Portions of agricultural
lands well downstream will be under two feet of water.
