The National Weather Service in Buffalo has issued a * Flash Flood Watch for a portion of western New York... including the following counties...Allegany...Cattaraugus... Chautauqua...Southern Erie and Wyoming. * Through Saturday morning. * A complex of thunderstorms over Lake Erie and Ohio this evening is expected to expand into a very moist airmass, and track across Western New York overnight. Heaviest rainfall within these storms is expected across the Southern Tier, and also Southern Erie and Wyoming counties. Some of these storms will contain torrential downpours, and may produce localized rainfall amounts of 2 to 3 inches within an hour or two with flash flooding possible through the overnight hours. * Urban areas, small streams, and areas with steep terrain are most susceptible to flash flooding.
