...HIGH WIND WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 10 PM THIS EVENING TO 7 AM
AKDT WEDNESDAY FOR TURNAGAIN ARM AND HIGHER ELEVATIONS INCLUDING 
THE LOWER HILLSIDE...

The National Weather Service in Anchorage has issued a High Wind
Warning, which is in effect from 10 PM this evening to 7 AM AKDT
Wednesday. 

* WIND...Turnagain Arm and Higher elevations...sustained winds 30
               to 50 mph with gusts to 80 mph. 
         Lower Hillside (~1000 ft)...sustained winds 25 to 40 mph 
               with gusts to 60 mph. 
         Anchorage Bowl...sustained winds 15 to 30 mph with gusts 
               to 45 mph.

* TIMING...Winds will first increase along Turnagain Arm and
  higher elevations this evening. After midnight winds will
  come down the Hillside toward lower elevations. By early morning
  southeast winds will come through all of Anchorage. The peak of
  the event will be from around midnight tonight through around
  4 AM with gusty winds continuing through the day on Wednesday. 

* IMPACTS...A high wind warning means a hazardous high wind event
  is expected or occurring. People are urged to secure loose 
  objects that could be blown around or damaged by the wind.

  to 95 mph possible.

  Lower Hillside (~1000 ft)...sustained southeast winds 25 to 40 
  mph with gusts 60 to 70 mph. 

  Anchorage Bowl...sustained southeast winds 15 to 30 mph with 
  gusts 40 to 50 mph. 

* TIMING...Winds will first increase along Turnagain Arm and

ELEVATIONS INCLUDING THE LOWER HILLSIDE...

Winds have diminished across Turnagain Arm, Higher Elevations, 
and the Lower Hillside. However, strong gusty southeast winds are
expected to continue across these areas and the portions of the
AnchorageBowl into the early afternoon hours.
