Peak gusts should reach around 45 to 50 mph from the central mountains westward Monday afternoon. Strong winds will probably linger over mountain peaks Monday night before spreading to lower elevations and shifting out of the northwest with a Pacific cold front on Tuesday. The storm system and jet stream will exit east of New Mexico on Wednesday allowing winds to weaken.
