CURRENT RISK...WHICH IS IN EFFECT THROUGH THIS EVENING. 

* TIMING...THE THREAT FOR DANGEROUS RIP CURRENTS WILL BE IN PLACE
  ALL DAY...HOWEVER...WILL BE HIGHEST EARLY THIS MORNING AND AGAIN
  FROM MID AFTERNOON THROUGH EARLY THIS EVENING DUE TO TIDAL
  EFFECTS.

* IMPACTS...LINGERING LONG PERIOD SWELLS WILL TEND TO PILE WATER
  ONSHORE ALONG AREA BEACHES WITHIN THE RUNUP....RESULTING IN
  NUMEROUS STRONG RIP CURRENTS IN THE SURF ZONE. THE SEAWARD PULL
  OF A RIP CURRENT CAN BE LIFE THREATENING. ONLY SWIM IN THE OCEAN
  NEAR A LIFEGUARD.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

RIP CURRENTS ARE POWERFUL CHANNELS OF WATER FLOWING QUICKLY AWAY
FROM SHORE...WHICH OCCUR MOST OFTEN AT LOW SPOTS OR BREAKS IN THE
SANDBAR AND IN THE VICINITY OF STRUCTURES SUCH AS JETTIES AND
PIERS. HEED THE ADVICE OF LIFEGUARDS...BEACH PATROL FLAGS AND
SIGNS.

SWIM NEAR A LIFEGUARD. IF CAUGHT IN A RIP CURRENT REMAIN CALM.
DON'T FIGHT THE CURRENT. SWIM IN A DIRECTION FOLLOWING THE
SHORELINE. IF UNABLE TO ESCAPE...FACE THE SHORE AND CALL OR WAVE
FOR HELP. IF TIRED, FLOAT OR TREAD WATER UNTIL OUT OF THE RIP
CURRENT.
