HAZARDS STATEMENT FOR ROUGH SURF AND THE POTENTIAL FOR MINOR BEACH
EROSION...WHICH IS IN EFFECT THROUGH THIS EVENING.

* HAZARDS...NORTHEAST TO EAST WINDS UP TO 20 TO 25 MPH WILL
PRODUCE LARGE AND HEAVY BREAKING WAVES, DANGEROUS RIP CURRENTS,
AND THE POTENTIAL FOR MINOR BEACH EROSION.

* TIMING...THE POTENTIAL FOR WAVE RUNUP TO THE BASE OF DUNES AND
MINOR BEACH EROSION WILL BE GREATEST A FEW HOURS EITHER SIDE OF
HIGH TIDE WHICH WILL OCCUR AROUND NOON TODAY. DANGEROUS RIP
CURRENTS ARE POSSIBLE INTO THIS EVENING.

* LOCATION...THE BEACHES OF VOLUSIA, BREVARD, INDIAN RIVER, SAINT

NORTHEAST TO EAST WINDS WILL LEAD TO ROUGH SURF ALONG THE

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

ROUGH SURF CAN OFTEN BE MORE DANGEROUS THAN IT APPEARS WHILE
STANDING ON THE BEACH. HEAVY BREAKING WAVES CAN KNOCK YOU OFF A
SANDBAR INTO DEEPER WATER OR INTO A RIP CURRENT.

IF YOU CHOOSE TO ENTER THE WATER, ONLY SWIM NEAR A LIFEGUARD. IF
CAUGHT IN A RIP CURRENT REMAIN CALM. DON'T FIGHT THE CURRENT. SWIM
IN A DIRECTION FOLLOWING THE SHORELINE. IF UNABLE TO ESCAPE...FACE
