Warning for the following rivers in Georgia...

Monroe and Twiggs Counties
.Recent heavy rainfall has caused significant runoff into streams and
rivers which will cause flooding in some areas.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
All persons with interests along the river should monitor the latest
forecasts...and be prepared to take necessary precautions to protect
life and property.
The latest stage data was furnished in cooperation with the United
States Geological Survey.

The Ocmulgee River near Macon.
* From Thursday afternoon until late Saturday night.
* At 930 PM Wednesday the stage was 16.1 feet...and rising.
* Minor flooding is forecast to develop.
* Flood stage is 18 feet.
* The river is forecast to rise above flood stage by Thursday
afternoon then continue rising...reaching near 18.9 feet by
Friday afternoon. The river will fall below flood stage by
Saturday evening.
* At 18 feet...Flood stage is reached. Minor flooding begins along
the river upstream and downstream from the gage at U.S. Highway
80...or Martin Luther King Boulevard. Portions of the Ocmulgee
Riverwalk and agricultural lands well downstream will be under a
foot of water.
At 19 feet...Minor flooding continues. The Macon Greenway Ocmulgee
Heritage Trail will begin to flood in areas just north of the
Martin Luther King Boulevard bridge and the public should not use
this portion of the trail. In addition...the lowest sections of
the Charles Jones Gateway Park will flood and portions of the
agricultural lands well downstream will be under two feet of
water.

* Until further notice.
* At 315 PM Thursday the stage was 22.2 feet...and steady.
* Minor flooding is occurring...and minor flooding is expected to
continue.
* Flood stage is 21 feet.
* Between 21 and 23 feet...Minor flooding continues in the
woodlands...fields and pastures upstream and downstream from the
gage behind the water treatment plant off Mauldin Road. The boat
ramp and small parking lot on the upstream and right bank side of
the Georgia Highway 136 Connector will be under 1 to 2 feet of
water.

* At 3 PM Thursday the stage was 574.3 feet...and rising.
* Minor flooding is occurring...and minor flooding is expected to
continue.
* Flood stage is 570 feet.
* Between 573 and 575 feet...Minor flooding continues to in the
woodlands...fields and pasture along the river upstream and
downstream from the gage behind Plant Hammond. The access road
near the intakes behind the plant will be under 1 to 2 feet of
water. The boat ramp near the intakes and a small portion of an
access road near and under the Georgia Highway 100 bridge will
be under 3 to 5 feet of water.

The Big Creek near Alpharetta.
* Until late tonight.
* At 245 PM Thursday the stage was 7.8 feet...and falling.
* Minor flooding is occurring...and Minor flooding is forecast to
continue.
* Flood stage is 7 feet.
* The river will continue to fall...dropping below flood stage
tonight.
* Between 7 and 8 feet...Minor flooding continues in the woodlands
and fields along the creek from near Cumming in south Forsyth
County to Alpharetta and Roswell in north Fulton County.
Portions of The Big Creek Greenway have minor flooding with 1 to
2 feet of water. Most of the walking and biking paths will be closed...especially upstream and downstream from the gage on
Kimball Bridge Road and near Rock Hill Park. Portions of the YMCA
Campground off Preston Ridge Road will be flooded.

* At 230 PM Thursday the stage was 19.1 feet...and rising.
* Minor flooding is occurring...and Minor flooding is forecast to
continue.
* Flood stage is 18 feet.
* The river will continue rising...reaching near 19.2 feet this
evening. The river will fall below flood stage Friday evening.
* At 19 feet...Minor flooding continues. The Macon Greenway Ocmulgee
Heritage Trail will be flooded in areas just north of the Martin
Luther King Boulevard bridge. The public should not use this
portion of the trail. In addition...the lowest sections of the
Charles Jones Gateway Park will flood and portions of agricultural
lands well downstream will be under two feet of water.
