...ROUGH SURF WITH A HIGH RISK FOR RIP CURRENTS AGAIN TODAY...

.STRONG HIGH PRESSURE OFFSHORE THE SOUTHEAST U.S. WILL PRODUCE
SOUTHEAST WINDS NEAR 20 MPH AT THE BEACHES AGAIN TODAY. THIS WILL
CAUSE ROUGH SURF AND NUMEROUS STRONG RIP CURRENTS IN THE SURF
ZONE ONCE AGAIN TODAY. THERE WILL ALSO BE AN INCREASING LONGSHORE
CURRENT FLOWING FROM SOUTH TO NORTH TODAY.

WINDS WILL VEER TO SOUTHERLY BY EARLY THIS EVENING...CARRYING THE
HIGHER SEAS FARTHER OFFSHORE...WITH ROUGH CONDITIONS IN THE SURF
ZONE SLOWLY ABATING.

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN MELBOURNE HAS ISSUED A RIP
CURRENT RISK...WHICH IS IN EFFECT THROUGH THIS EVENING. 

* TIMING...ROUGH SURF AND NUMEROUS STRONG RIP CURRENTS EXPECTED
  THE ENTIRE DAY. THE GREATEST THREAT FOR RIPS WILL BE FROM 11 AM
  THROUGH ABOUT 5 PM.

* IMPACTS...STRONG SOUTHEAST WINDS WILL PRODUCE LARGE BREAKING
  WAVES OF ABOUT 5 TO 6 FEET IN THE SURF ZONE TODAY. NUMEROUS
  STRONG RIP CURRENTS WILL ALSO OCCUR. MINOR BEACH EROSION IS
  POSSIBLE AROUND THE TIMES OF HIGH TIDE AT AROUND 800 AM THIS
  MORNING AND AGAIN AT ABOUT 800 PM THIS EVENING.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

THERE IS A HIGH RISK OF RIP CURRENTS. 

RIP CURRENTS ARE POWERFUL CHANNELS OF WATER FLOWING QUICKLY AWAY
FROM SHORE...WHICH OCCUR MOST OFTEN AT LOW SPOTS OR BREAKS IN THE
SANDBAR AND IN THE VICINITY OF STRUCTURES SUCH AS JETTIES AND
PIERS. HEED THE ADVICE OF LIFEGUARDS AND THE BEACH PATROL. PAY
ATTENTION TO FLAGS AND POSTED SIGNS. 

IF YOU BECOME CAUGHT IN A RIP CURRENT...DO NOT PANIC. REMAIN CALM
AND BEGIN TO SWIM PARALLEL TO SHORE. ONCE YOU ARE AWAY FROM THE
FORCE OF THE RIP CURRENT...BEGIN TO SWIM BACK TO THE BEACH. DO
NOT ATTEMPT TO SWIM DIRECTLY AGAINST A RIP CURRENT. EVEN A STRONG
SWIMMER CAN BECOME EXHAUSTED QUICKLY.
