THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN TAUNTON HAS ISSUED A

* FLASH FLOOD WARNING FOR...
  HARTFORD COUNTY IN NORTHERN CONNECTICUT...
  CENTRAL TOLLAND COUNTY IN NORTHERN CONNECTICUT...

* UNTIL 615 PM EDT

* AT 413 PM EDT...DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED THUNDERSTORMS MOVING 
  THROUGH NORTH CENTRAL CONNECTICUT...WITH ADDITIONAL THUNDERSTORMS 
  TRACKING NORTHEASTWARD TOWARDS THE GREATER HARTFORD AREA. RAINFALL 
  OF UP TO 2 INCHES IN AN HOUR IS EXPECTED IN THE WARNING AREA.  
  THIS WILL PRODUCE RAPID PONDING OF WATER IN LOW LYING AND POOR 
  DRAINAGE AREAS...ESPECIALLY IN URBAN CENTERS.  UP TO ONE INCH OF 
  RAIN HAS ALREADY FALLEN IN SOME LOCATIONS. FLASH FLOODING IS 
  EXPECTED TO BEGIN SHORTLY.

* COMMUTERS SHOULD BE ESPECIALLY CAUTIOUS OF ROADWAYS THAT TYPICALLY 
  FLOOD DURING HEAVY RAINS...AND BEWARE OF THE THREAT OF RAPID 
  REDUCTION IN VISIBILITY.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A FLASH FLOOD WARNING IS ISSUED FOR RAPID AND POTENTIALLY LIFE
THREATENING FLOODING. IN URBAN AREAS AVOID FLOODED ROADWAYS AND OBEY
ROAD CLOSURES.

THUNDERSTORMS CONTINUE TO TRACK THROUGH THE WARNING AREA.  SKYWARN 
SPOTTERS REPORT THAT SOUTHINGTON...GRANBY AND NEW BRITAIN HAVE 
RECEIVED AROUND 1 INCH OF RAIN. RADAR INDICATES CONTINUED MODERATE 
TO LOCALLY HEAVY RAIN TRACKING ACROSS NORTH CENTRAL CONNECTICUT 
DURING THE NEXT HOUR...WHICH WOULD EXACERBATE ANY ONGOING FLOODING 
IN THE AREA.
