THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN SALT LAKE CITY HAS ISSUED A

* FLASH FLOOD WARNING FOR...
  SOUTH CENTRAL GARFIELD COUNTY IN UTAH
  CENTRAL KANE COUNTY IN UTAH

* UNTIL 1115 PM MDT

* AT 512 PM MDT...NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED   
THUNDERSTORMS CAPABLE OF PRODUCING VERY HEAVY RAIN OVER THE 
HEADWATERS OF THE PARIA RIVER DRAINAGE.  THIS AREA IS LOCATED TO THE 
SOUTHEAST OF BRYCE CANYON NATIONAL PARK...AND FLOWS SOUTH TO THE 
UTAH/ARIZONA BORDER.

* THE PARIA RIVER DRAINAGE HAS PRODUCED COPIOUS FLASH FLOODS SINCE 
AUGUST 16TH.  RAINFALL AMOUNTS OF OVER 1.72 INCHES IN ABOUT TWO 
HOURS TIME HAS ACCUMULATED THIS EVENING WITH STORM ACTIVITY 
CONTINUING OVER THE BASIN.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

PLEASE USE CAUTION IF YOU PLAN TO TRAVEL ANYWHERE IN THE PARIA RIVER 
DRAINAGE THIS EVENING AND INTO THE NIGHTTIME HOURS.  FLOWS ARE 
ANTICIPATED TO BE QUITE HIGH THROUGH THIS TIME.

CENTRAL GARFIELD AND CENTRAL KANE COUNTIES...SPECIFICALLY THE PARIA 
RIVER DRAINAGE...

RUNOFF FROM EARLIER PRECIPITATION HAS DIMINISHED GREATLY AND RIVER 
AND STREAM LEVELS WILL TREND TO DECREASE ACROSS THE MIDDLE AND UPPER 
PORTIONS OF THE DRAINAGE. RISES ARE STILL EXPECTED IN THE LOWER 
DRAINAGE THROUGH THE EARLY MORNING HOURS...SPECIFICALLY WHERE THE 
PARIA CROSSES UNDER HIGHWAY 89. THIS SAID... THE FLASH FLOOD WARNING 
HAS BEEN ALLOWED TO EXPIRE. MONITOR NOAA WEATHER RADIO OR LOCAL 
TELEVISION OR RADIO FOR THE LATEST WEATHER INFORMATION.

DO NOT DRIVE YOUR VEHICLE INTO AREAS WHERE THE WATER COVERS THE
ROADWAY. THE WATER DEPTH MAY BE TOO GREAT TO ALLOW YOUR CAR TO CROSS
SAFELY.
