THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN SIOUX FALLS HAS ISSUED A

* FLASH FLOOD WARNING FOR...
  EASTERN MOODY COUNTY IN EAST CENTRAL SOUTH DAKOTA
  NORTHEASTERN MINNEHAHA COUNTY IN SOUTHEAST SOUTH DAKOTA
  NORTHERN ROCK COUNTY IN SOUTHWEST MINNESOTA
  PIPESTONE COUNTY IN SOUTHWEST MINNESOTA

* UNTIL 1030 PM CDT

* AT 724 PM CDT...THE RIVER GAGE ON THE PIPESTONE CREEK AT PIPESTONE
  CONTINUED TO INDICATE THAT FLASH FLOODING WAS OCCURRING.  RAINFALL 
  HAS ENDED ACROSS THE REGION...HOWEVER RAINFALL AMOUNTS OF 2 TO 4  
  INCHES HAS OCCURRED EARLIER THIS AFTERNOON ACROSS THE AREA.

* THIS WAS CAUSING FLASH FLOODING IN PIPESTONE CREEK AT PIPESTONE.   
  AT 630 PM THE RIVER GAGE ON PIPESTONE CREEK WAS AT 18.49 FEET.     
  THIS IS 2.49 FEET ABOVE FLOOD STAGE.  THE RIVER HAS CRESTED BUT IS 
  EXPECTED TO REMAIN ABOVE FLOOD STAGE FOR SEVERAL HOURS.  THIS      
  WATER WILL CONTINUE DOWNSTREAM AND IS EXPECTED TO CAUSE FLOODING   
  NEAR PIPESTONE CREEK IN RURAL AREA OF FAR SOUTHEAST MOODY COUNTY   
  AND FAR NORTHEAST MINNEHAHA COUNTY NORTH OF SHERMAN.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A FLASH FLOOD WARNING WARNING MEANS THAT FLOODING IS IMMINENT OR
OCCURRING. IF YOU ARE IN THE WARNING AREA MOVE TO HIGHER GROUND
IMMEDIATELY. RESIDENTS LIVING ALONG STREAMS AND CREEKS SHOULD TAKE
IMMEDIATE PRECAUTIONS TO PROTECT LIFE AND PROPERTY. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO
CROSS SWIFTLY FLOWING WATERS OR WATERS OF UNKNOWN DEPTH BY FOOT OR BY
AUTOMOBILE.
