  STEELE COUNTY IN SOUTH CENTRAL MINNESOTA

* UNTIL 930 AM CDT

* AT 727 AM CDT...RADAR DETECTED AN AREA OF MODERATE TO HEAVY        
  RAIN ACROSS MUCH OF THE WARNED AREA. THESE RAINS EXTENDED FROM 8   
  MILES SOUTH OF MANKATO TO 3 MILES SOUTH OF OWATONNA...AND WERE
  NEARLY STATIONARY.  

 
* SOME LOCATIONS THAT MAY BE AFFECTED INCLUDE...AMBOY...ELLENDALE...

STEELE...WASECA AND BLUE EARTH COUNTIES...

AT 855 AM CDT...RADAR INDICATED PERSISTENT RAIN...HEAVY AT TIMES 
ACROSS THE AREA...ALTHOUGH IT APPEARS THAT RAINFALL RATES WERE 
STARTING TO DECREASE. 

THE GROUND HAS ALREADY BEEN SATURATED BY RECENT RAINFALL IN THE
WARNED AREA...AND ADDITIONAL RAIN WILL RUNOFF AND CAUSE FLOODING.

SOME LOCATIONS THAT MAY BE AFFECTED INCLUDE...OWATONNA AND 
WASECA...AND NEW RICHLAND. 

MOST FLOOD DEATHS OCCUR IN AUTOMOBILES. DO NOT DRIVE YOUR VEHICLE
INTO AREAS WHERE THE WATER COVERS THE ROAD. TWO FEET OF RUSHING WATER
CAN CARRY AWAY MOST VEHICLES INCLUDING SPORT UTILITY VEHICLES AND 
PICKUPS.
