EAST CENTRAL JEFFERSON COUNTY IN CENTRAL ALABAMA
THIS INCLUDES THE AREA OF BIRMINGHAM

* AT 638 PM CDT...NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED A
STRONG THUNDERSTORM PRODUCING HEAVY RAINFALL NEAR CAHABA HEIGHTS.
THIS STORM WAS MOVING NORTH AT 10 MPH.
* LOCATIONS IN THE WARNING INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO CAHABA
HEIGHTS...HOMEWOOD...VESTAVIA HILLS...DOWNTOWN BIRMINGHAM...AND
BIRMINGHAM AIRPORT.
RAINFALL AMOUNTS OF TWO TO THREE INCHES ARE EXPECTED IN THE WARNED
AREA...MAINLY EAST OF INTERSTATE 65 AND WEST HIGHWAY 280 SOUTH OF
DOWNTOWN BIRMINGHAM THROUGH 8 PM CDT.
EXCESSIVE RUNOFF FROM THIS HEAVY RAINFALL WILL CAUSE FLOODING OF
SMALL CREEKS AND STREAMS...URBAN AREAS...HIGHWAYS...STREETS AND
UNDERPASSES AS WELL AS OTHER DRAINAGE AREAS AND LOW LYING SPOTS.
DO NOT DRIVE YOUR VEHICLE INTO AREAS WHERE THE WATER COVERS THE
ROADWAY. THE WATER DEPTH MAY BE TOO GREAT TO ALLOW YOUR CAR TO CROSS
SAFELY. VEHICLES CAUGHT IN RISING WATER SHOULD BE ABANDONED QUICKLY.
