THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN MOBILE HAS ISSUED A

* FLASH FLOOD WARNING FOR...

  ESCAMBIA COUNTY IN NORTHWEST FLORIDA
  SANTA ROSA COUNTY IN NORTHWEST FLORIDA

* UNTIL 915 PM CDT

* AT 608 PM CDT...LOCAL LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICIALS REPORTED FLASH   
  FLOODING ALONG PORTIONS OF THE EAST BOUND LANE OF I-10 IN PENSACOLA
  AND FLOODING ON MANY OTHER ROADS IN THE CITY AS WELL.  SIMILAR 
  CONDITIONS ARE LIKELY OCCURRING ELSEWHERE ACROSS ESCAMBIA AND
  SANTA ROSA COUNTIES. HOURLY RAINFALL RATES OF 2 TO 3 INCHES HAVE 
  BEEN OCCURRING OVER THE WARNED AREA FOR THE PAST COUPLE OF HOURS...
  AND AN ADDITIONAL 2 TO 3 INCHES MAY OCCUR THROUGH 915 PM.
  THE AREA OF RAIN IS SLOWLY DROPPING SOUTH ACROSS ESCAMBIA AND
  SANTA ROSA COUNTIES...WHILE INDIVIDUAL HEAVY STORMS WITHIN THE RAIN
  AREA ARE MOVING NORTHEAST AT 35 MPH.

EXCESSIVE RUNOFF FROM HEAVY RAINFALL WILL CAUSE FLOODING OF SMALL
CREEKS AND STREAMS...HIGHWAYS...STREETS AND UNDERPASSES...AS WELL AS
OTHER POUR DRAINAGE AND LOW LYING AREAS.

RESIDENTS LIVING IN FLOOD PRONE AREAS SHOULD TAKE IMMEDIATE
PRECAUTIONS TO PROTECT LIFE AND PROPERTY. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO CROSS
WATERS OF UNKNOWN DEPTH BY FOOT OR BY AUTOMOBILE. REMEMBER...IT ONLY
TAKES A FEW INCHES OF SWIFTLY FLOWING WATER TO CARRY VEHICLES AWAY.

MOST FLOOD RELATED DEATHS OCCUR IN AUTOMOBILES. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO CROSS 
WATER COVERED BRIDGES...DIPS...OR LOW WATER CROSSINGS. NEVER TRY TO CROSS
