THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN TAUNTON HAS ISSUED A

* FLASH FLOOD WARNING FOR...
  KENT COUNTY IN RHODE ISLAND
  THIS INCLUDES THE CITY OF WARWICK
  SOUTHERN PROVIDENCE COUNTY IN RHODE ISLAND

* UNTIL 345 PM EDT

* AT 1247 PM EDT...HEAVY RAIN PERSISTED ACROSS MUCH OF SOUTHERN
  PROVIDENCE COUNTY AND KENT COUNTY.  WEATHER SPOTTERS REPORTED THAT
  THERE WAS 3 FEET OF WATER ON PORTIONS OF PONTIAC AVENUE IN
  CRANSTON WITH WITH CARS STUCK IN THE ROADWAY.  ANOTHER REPORT OF
  FLOODING WAS RECEIVED IN THE TIOGUE AVENUE AREA ALONG THE WEST
  WARWICK AND COVENTRY LINE.  

TWO TO 3 INCHES OF RAIN HAS FALLEN IN THESE AREAS.  AN ADDITIONAL 1 
TO 3 INCHES MAY OCCUR THIS AFTERNOON CAUSING SMALL STREAMS AND 
CREEKS TO OVERFLOW THEIR BANKS.

A FLASH FLOOD WARNING MEANS THAT FLOODING IS IMMINENT OR OCCURRING. 
IF YOU ARE IN THE WARNING AREA MOVE TO HIGHER GROUND IMMEDIATELY.
MOST FLASH FLOOD DEATHS OCCUR IN AUTOMOBILES. NEVER ATTEMPT TO CROSS 
BRIDGES OR ROADS WHERE WATER COVERS THE ROADWAY. IT ONLY TAKES A FOOT
OR TWO OF WATER TO WASH MOST CARS AWAY.
