THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN SALT LAKE CITY HAS EXTENDED THE

* FLASH FLOOD WARNING FOR...
  GARFIELD...KANE...AND WASHINGTON COUNTIES IN UTAH
  
* UNTIL 600 PM MST

* AT 115 PM MST...FLASH FLOODING IS OCCURRING IN MANY WASHES AND     
  RIVERS IN WASHINGTON...KANE...AND GARFIELD COUNTIES.

* LOCATIONS IN THE WARNING AREA INCLUDE THE NORTH FORK OF THE VIRGIN 
  RIVER IN ZION NP...THE SANTA CLARA RIVER ABOVE GUNLOCK             
  RESERVOIR...AND SMALL SLOT CANYONS THROUGHOUT THE WARNING AREA. 

THE MAIN STEM OF THE VIRGIN RIVER IS FORECAST TO PEAK AT 13.30 FT. 
OR 5500 CFS LATER THIS EVENING. FLOOD STAGE FOR THIS POINT IS 15.00 
FT. OR 6550 CFS.

IN HILLY TERRAIN THERE ARE HUNDREDS OF LOW WATER CROSSINGS WHICH ARE
POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS IN HEAVY RAIN. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO TRAVEL ACROSS
FLOODED ROADS. FIND ALTERNATE ROUTES. IT ONLY TAKES A FEW INCHES OF
SWIFTLY FLOWING WATER TO CARRY VEHICLES AWAY.
