THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN SPRINGFIELD HAS ISSUED A

* FLASH FLOOD WARNING FOR...
  DOUGLAS COUNTY IN SOUTHWEST MISSOURI.

* UNTIL 1100 PM CDT.

* AT 801 PM CDT...NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED
  THUNDERSTORMS WITH VERY HEAVY RAINFALL ACROSS THE WARNED AREA.     
  DOPPLER RADAR ESTIMATED THAT TWO TO THREE INCHES OF RAIN HAS
  AFFECTED RURAL SECTIONS OF DOUGLAS COUNTY THIS EVENING.

* SLOW MOVING THUNDERSTORMS ARE PRODUCING TORRENTIAL RAINFALL IN THE
  WARNED AREA. RUNOFF FROM THIS EXCESSIVE RAINFALL WILL CAUSE FLASH
  FLOODING TO OCCUR. SOME LOCATIONS THAT WILL EXPERIENCE FLOODING
  INCLUDE...AVA...BRUSHYKNOB...DOGWOOD...DRURY...GENTRYVILLE...
  GOODHOPE...ROME...SQUIRES AND VANZANT.

DOUGLAS COUNTY EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT REPORTED RAPID RISES IN SMALL 
STREAMS AND CREEKS OVER SOUTHERN DOUGLAS COUNTY.  

DO NOT CROSS FLOODED OVER ROADWAYS.  FLASH FLOODING IS THE NUMBER 
ONE WEATHER RELATED KILLER IN THE MISSOURI OZARKS.

...FLASH FLOOD WARNING CONTINUES FOR DOUGLAS COUNTY UNTIL 1100 PM
CDT...

AT 921 PM CDT...LOCAL LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICIALS REPORTED THAT FLASH 
FLOODING WAS OCCURRING OVER SEVERAL LOW WATER CROSSINGS THROUGHOUT 
DOUGLAS COUNTY.  SMALL STREAMS AND CREEKS HAD ALSO ASSUMED A RAPID 
RISE IN WATER LEVELS OVER THE LAST FEW HOURS FROM HEAVY 
THUNDERSTORMS THAT AFFECTED THE AREA THIS EVENING.

BE ESPECIALLY CAUTIOUS AT NIGHT WHEN IT IS HARDER TO RECOGNIZE THE
DANGERS OF FLOODING. IF FLOODING IS OBSERVED ACT QUICKLY. MOVE UP TO
HIGHER GROUND TO ESCAPE FLOOD WATERS. DO NOT STAY IN AREAS SUBJECT TO
FLOODING WHEN WATER BEGINS RISING.  REPORT FLASH FLOODING TO YOUR 
LOCAL LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCY...AND THEY WILL RELAY THE REPORT TO THE 
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE OFFICE IN SPRINGFIELD.  

FLASH FLOODING IS THE NUMBER ONE WEATHER RELATED KILLER IN THE
