* FLASH FLOOD WARNING FOR...
  NORTHERN FORSYTH COUNTY IN CENTRAL NORTH CAROLINA

* UNTIL 1015 PM EDT

* AT 855 PM EDT NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED     
  THUNDERSTORMS WITH VERY HEAVY RAIN EXTENDING NEAR WALNUT COVE      
  SOUTHWEST INTO THE NORTH SIDE OF WINSTON-SALEM. SEVERAL            
  THUNDERSTORMS WERE MOVING SOUTHWEST ALONG THE SAME PATH. 

* THUNDERSTORMS ARE CONTINUOUSLY REDEVELOPING AROUND...
  DENNIS...
  PFAFFTOWN...
  RURAL HALL...
  SMITH-REYNOLDS AIRPORT...
  TOBACCOVILLE...
  NORTH WINSTON-SALEM...

RADAR INDICATED THAT 2.5 TO 3.0 INCHES OF RAIN HAD OCCURRED ALONG 
US-311 NORTH OF WINSTON-SALEM... NEAR DENNIS IN THE PAST HOUR. 
THUNDERSTORMS WILL CONTINUE TO MOVE SOUTHWEST AT 15 MPH ACROSS THE 
NORTHERN SECTIONS INCLUDING WINSTON-SALEM... DENNIS... RURAL HALL... 
AND STANLEYVILLE. IN ADDITION... RAINFALL RATES OF 3.2 INCHES PER 
HOUR WERE OCCURRING WITH THIS STORM.   

MOST FLOOD DEATHS OCCUR IN AUTOMOBILES. NEVER DRIVE YOUR VEHICLE INTO
AREAS WHERE THE WATER COVERS THE ROADWAY. TURN AROUND... FIND AN 
ALTERNATE ROUTE.

...A FLASH FLOOD WARNING CONTINUES IN EFFECT FOR FORSYTH COUNTY...

DOPPLER RADAR ESTIMATES INDICATE AROUND 1.5 TO 2 INCHES OF RAIN FELL 
BETWEEN 830 AND 930 PM...IN NORTHEASTERN FORSYTH COUNTY ALONG AND 
EAST OF US HIGHWAY 311.  THE SLAEM UNITED METHOPDIST CHURCH HAS 
FLOODED IN THIS AREA.  DOPPLER ESTIMATES ALSO INDICATE THAT 1.75 TO 
2.0 INCHES OF RAIN HAS FALLEN IN WINSTON-SALEM...WHICH WAS CONFIRMED 
BY THE ASOS WITH 1.60 INCHES OF RAIN IN THE LAST HOUR.  THE HEAVIEST 
RAIN HAS SINCE SHIFTED TO THE SOUTHWESTERN PART OF THE COUNTY 
BETWEEN US HIGHWAYS 158 AND 421...WHERE DOPPLER ESTIMATES OF 1.5 TO 
1.75 INCHES OF RAIN HAS FALLEN.  LOCATIONS THREATENED WITH FLASH 
FLOODING CONTINUE TO INCLUDE THE WINSTON-SALEM AREA SOUTHWEST TO 
DAVIDSON COUNTY LINE.


A FLASH FLOOD WARNING MEANS THAT FLOODING IS IMMINENT OR OCCURRING.
IF YOU ARE EXPERIENCING FLOODING OR LIVE IN A FLOOD PRONE AREA MOVE
TO HIGHER GROUND IMMEDIATELY.

BE ESPECIALLY CAUTIOUS AT NIGHT WHEN IT IS HARDER TO RECOGNIZE THE
DANGERS OF FLOODS AND FLASH FLOODS. IF FLASH FLOODING IS OBSERVED ACT
QUICKLY. MOVE UP TO HIGHER GROUND TO ESCAPE FLOOD WATERS. DO NOT STAY
IN AREAS SUBJECT TO FLOODING WHEN WATER BEGINS RISING.
