THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN JACKSON HAS ISSUED A

* FLASH FLOOD WARNING FOR...
  RANKIN COUNTY IN CENTRAL MISSISSIPPI

* UNTIL 655 PM CDT

* AT 526 PM CDT...WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED            
  THUNDERSTORMS PRODUCING ACROSS MUCH OF SOUTHERN RANKIN             
  COUNTY...MOVING NORTH AT 10 MPH.

DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED THAT THESE STORMS WERE PRODUCING TORRENTIAL 
RAINFALL OF ONE TO ONE AND A HALF INCHES IN LESS THAN AN HOUR. WITH 
SATURATED GROUND CONDITIONS...THIS WILL CAUSE FLASH 
FLOODING...PARTICULARLY OF LOW LYING ROADWAYS. THROUGH 63O PM...THE 
GREATEST FLASH FLOOD THREAT WILL BE ALONG AND SOUTH OF INTERSTATE 20.

MOST DEATHS IN FLASH FLOODING OCCUR IN AUTOMOBILES. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO
CROSS BRIDGES...DIPS...OR LOW SPOTS IF WATER COVERS THE ROADWAY.

FLASH FLOOD WARNING WILL BE ALLOWED TO EXPIRE AT 655 PM CDT FOR...

RANKIN COUNTY IN CENTRAL MISSISSIPPI

AT 645 PM CDT...WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED WIDESPREAD 
MODERATE TO HEAVY RAIN...AND A FEW EMBEDDED THUNDERSTORMS...OVER 
RANKIN COUNTY. WHILE SOME ROADS WERE REPORTED TO HAVE FLOODED OVER 
THE SOUTHERN PART OF THE COUNTY EARLIER...THE STORMS HAVE WEAKENED 
SUBSTANTIALLY...AND ADDITIONAL FLASH FLOODING IS NOT EXPECTED FOR AT 
LEAST THE NEXT COUPLE OF HOURS.
