THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN BURLINGTON HAS EXTENDED THE

* FLASH FLOOD WARNING FOR...
  ADDISON COUNTY IN CENTRAL VERMONT

* UNTIL 1215 AM EDT

* AT 806 PM EDT...ROAD WASHOUTS WERE REPORTED ON ROUTE 116...ROUTE 
  17 AND MANY BACK ROADS IN THE BRISTOL AREA.  

* OTHER LOCATIONS IN THE WARNING INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO NEW
  HAVEN AND BRISTOL.

WHILE THE HEAVY RAINFALL HAS ENDED...EXCESSIVE RUNOFF FROM EARLIER 
HEAVY RAINFALL OF UP TO 4 INCHES LOCALLY IN THE BRISTOL AREA WILL 
CAUSE FLOODING OF SMALL CREEKS AND STREAMS ALONG THE NEW HAVEN 
RIVER.  

BE ESPECIALLY CAUTIOUS AT NIGHT WHEN IT IS HARDER TO RECOGNIZE THE
DANGERS OF FLOODING. IF FLASH FLOODING IS OBSERVED ACT QUICKLY. MOVE
UP TO HIGHER GROUND TO ESCAPE FLOOD WATERS. DO NOT STAY IN AREAS
SUBJECT TO FLOODING WHEN WATER BEGINS RISING.

IT IS IMPORTANT TO KNOW WHERE YOU ARE RELATIVE TO 
STREAMS...RIVERS...OR CREEKS WHICH CAN BECOME KILLERS IN HEAVY 
RAINS. CAMPERS AND HIKERS SHOULD AVOID STREAMS OR CREEKS.

...THE FLASH FLOOD WARNING FOR ADDISON COUNTY WILL EXPIRE AT 1215 
AM...

AT 1145 PM...AN AREA OF SHOWERS WAS MOVING NORTH THROUGH NORTHERN 
ADDISON COUNTY.  ADDITIONAL RAINFALL AMOUNTS UP TO ONE HALF INCH IS 
EXPECTED BEFORE THE SHOWERS MOVE NORTH OF THE REGION AFTER 1 AM.

THIS RAINFALL WILL BE NOT ENOUGH TO INITIATE ADDITIONAL FLOODING SO 
THE FLASH FLOOD WARNING WILL BE ALLOWED TO EXPIRE.    

SMALL STREAMS AND CREEKS WILL BE RUNNING HIGH OVERNIGHT...ESPECIALLY 
TRIBUTARIES ALONG THE NEW HAVEN RIVER.  IF YOU ARE TRAVELING 
OVERNIGHT...OBEY ALL ROAD CLOSURE SIGNS.  THEY HAVE BEEN POSTED FOR 
YOUR SAFELY.  ALTHOUGH WATER MAY HAVE RECEDED...THE ROADS MAY HAVE 
BEEN DAMAGED BY FLOOD WATERS.
