THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN LAS VEGAS HAS ISSUED A

* FLASH FLOOD WARNING FOR...
  SOUTH CENTRAL SAN BERNARDINO COUNTY IN SOUTHEAST CALIFORNIA

* UNTIL 1045 PM PDT

* AT 740 PM PDT...DOPPLER WEATHER RADAR INDICATE HEAVY RAIN FROM
  STATE ROUTE 247 TO JOSHUA TREE. THE STORM WAS MOVING SOUTHEAST
  AT 5 MPH.

* THE THUNDERSTORM WITH EXCESSIVE RAINFALL WILL BE...
  NEAR TWENTYNINE PALMS AT 800 PM PDT

DOPPLER WEATHER RADAR INDICATES OVER AN INCH OF RAINFALL HAS LIKELY 
FALLEN AND HEAVY RAIN WILL CONTINUE UNTIL LEAST 830 PM. OVER TWO 
INCHES OF RAIN COULD POTENTIALLY FALL IN SOME SPOTS ACROSS THE AREA 
FROM STATE ROUTE 247 TO JOSHUA TREE AND THE WESTERN EDGE OF 
TWENTYNINE PALMS. THIS WILL CAUSE FLASH FLOODING OF WASHES AND LOW 
LYING AREAS ALONG STATE ROUTE 247 AND STATE ROUTE 62.

BE ESPECIALLY CAUTIOUS AT NIGHT WHEN IT IS HARDER TO RECOGNIZE THE 
DANGERS OF FLOODS AND FLASH FLOODS. IF FLASH FLOODING IS OBSERVED ACT
QUICKLY. MOVE TO HIGHER GROUND TO ESCAPE FLOOD WATERS.

MOST FLASH FLOOD DEATHS OCCUR IN AUTOMOBILES. NEVER ATTEMPT TO CROSS 
SWIFTLY FLOWING WATER. VEHICLES CAUGHT IN RISING WATERS SHOULD BE 
ABANDONED QUICKLY. TURN AROUND...DONT DROWN.
