NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE LAS VEGAS NV

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN LAS VEGAS HAS ISSUED A

* FLASH FLOOD WARNING FOR...
  CENTRAL AND EASTERN INYO COUNTY IN EASTERN CALIFORNIA

* UNTIL 100 PM PDT

* AT 1003 AM PDT...THE NATIONAL PARK SERVICE IN DEATH VALLEY REPORTED
  FLOODING FROM DANTES VIEW TO ZABRISKIE POINT.

* THE HEAVY RAINFALL WILL CONTINUE TO MOVE NORTHWEST ALONG THE 
  FUNERAL MOUNTAINS AND STATE ROUTE 190 UP THROUGH FURNACE CREEK AND 
  STOVEPIPE WELLS UNTIL AT LEAST 11 AM.

EXCESSIVE RUNOFF FROM THIS STORM WILL CAUSE FLASH FLOODING OF WASHES 
AND NARROW CANYONS OVER THE FUNERAL MOUNTAINS AND PANAMINT RANGE. 
THE HEAVY RAINS COULD ALSO TRIGGER ROCK AND MUDSLIDES IN STEEP 
TERRAIN. MOTORISTS ALONG STATE 190 AND ROADS AROUND STOVEPIPE WELLS 
AND FURNACE CREEK NEED TO BE ALERT TO WATER RUNNING OFF THE 
MOUNTAINS AND OVER THE ROADS.

A FLASH FLOOD WARNING MEANS THAT FLOODING IS OCCURRING OR IS
IMMINENT. MOST FLASH FLOOD DEATHS OCCUR IN AUTOMOBILES. NEVER ATTEMPT
TO CROSS SWIFTLY FLOWING WATER. VEHICLES CAUGHT IN RISING WATERS
SHOULD BE ABANDONED QUICKLY.
