000 WGUS54 KTSA 301414 FFWTUL OKC143-301800- BULLETIN - EAS ACTIVATION REQUESTED FLASH FLOOD WARNING NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE TULSA OK 910 AM CDT SAT AUG 30 2003 THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN TULSA HAS ISSUED A * FLASH FLOOD WARNING FOR SOUTHWEST TULSA COUNTY IN NORTHEAST OKLAHOMA * UNTIL 100 PM CDT * AT 900 AM CDT MINOR FLOODING WAS REPORTED ALONG CREEKS AND STREAMS FLOWING INTO THE ARKANSAS RIVER. DUCK CREEK ALONG HIGHWAY 75 WAS BEGINNING TO OVERFLOW ITS BANKS AND FLOOD LOW LYING FARMLAND. RADAR AND SPOTTER REPORTS INDICATE THAT UP TO 6 INCHES OF RAIN HAS ALREADY FALLEN OVER THE WARNED AREA THIS MORNING. ALTHOUGH THE HEAVY RAINFALL HAS TAPERED OFF...RUNOFF FROM THIS MORNINGS RAINS WILL CONTINUE FOR THE NEXT SEVERAL HOURS AND MAY OVERRUN ROADWAYS NEAR CREEKS AND STREAM BEDS. * SOME LOCATIONS THAT WILL CONTINUE TO BE AFFECTED BY MINOR CREEK AND STREAM FLOODING INCLUDE BIXBY...JENKS AND GLENPOOL. DO NOT DRIVE YOUR VEHICLE INTO AREAS WHERE WATER COVERS THE ROAD TO UNKNOWN DEPTHS. IT ONLY TAKES TWO FEET OF RUSHING WATER TO CARRY AWAY MOST SPORT UTILITY VEHICLES AND PICKUPS. TAKE A DIFFERENT ROUTE TO REACH YOUR DESTINATION OR WAIT UNTIL THE WATER RECEDES. REMEMBER... MOST FLOOD RELATED DEATHS OCCUR IN AUTOMOBILES.
