* FLASH FLOOD WARNING FOR...
  GILMER COUNTY IN NORTH CENTRAL GEORGIA

* UNTIL 1215 AM EDT

* AT 1106 PM EDT...NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR 
  INDICATED A THUNDERSTORM...PRODUCING TORRENTIAL RAINFALL
  OF 3 TO 4 INCHES PER HOUR...NEARLY STATIONARY...3 MILES
  SOUTHWEST OF ELLIJAY.

TORRENTIAL RAINFALL HAS FALLEN FROM THIS THUNDERSTORM DURING THE 
PAST HOUR. LAW ENFORCEMENT AND EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT OFFICIALS IN 
ELLIJAY REPORT THAT SOME ROADS HAVE BEEN CLOSED AND WASHED 
OUT...WITH UP TO A FOOT OF WATER FLOWING OVER THE ROADS. OTHER ROADS 
IN WESTERN GILMER COUNTY ALSO HAVE UP TO SIX INCHES OR MORE OF WATER 
ON THEM.

EXCESSIVE RUNOFF FROM THIS STORM WILL CAUSE FLASH FLOODING OF SMALL
CREEKS AND STREAMS...HIGHWAYS AND UNDERPASSES. ADDITIONALLY...COUNTRY
ROADS AND FARMLANDS ALONG THE BANKS OF CREEKS AND STREAMS AND OTHER
LOW LYING AREAS ARE SUBJECT TO FLASH FLOODING.

DO NOT DRIVE YOUR VEHICLE INTO AREAS WHERE THE WATER COVERS THE
ROADWAY. THE WATER DEPTH MAY BE TOO GREAT TO ALLOW YOUR CAR TO CROSS
SAFELY. TWO FEET OF RUSHING WATER CAN CARRY AWAY MOST VEHICLES...
INCLUDING SUVS AND PICKUPS. VEHICLES CAUGHT IN RISING WATER SHOULD
BE ABANDONED QUICKLY. MOVE TO HIGHER GROUND.
