THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN PEACHTREE CITY HAS ISSUED A

* FLASH FLOOD WARNING FOR...
  GILMER COUNTY IN NORTH CENTRAL GEORGIA

* UNTIL 900 PM EDT

* AT 751 PM EDT...NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED   
  THUNDERSTORMS WITH VERY HEAVY RAIN NEAR ELLIJAY AND IN NEARBY
  COMMUNITIES...MOVING WEST AT 5 MPH. THESE THUNDERSTORMS HAVE
  DROPPED 2 TO 3 INCHES OF RAIN IN A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME. ALTHOUGH
  RAINFALL WILL SOON BEGIN TO TAPER OFF...RUNOFF MAY CAUSE CREEKS
  AND STREAMS TO CONTINUE RISING THROUGH 9 PM.

EXCESSIVE RUNOFF FROM THIS STORM WILL CAUSE FLASH FLOODING OF SMALL
CREEKS AND STREAMS...COUNTRY ROADS...AS WELL AS FARMLAND ALONG THE 
BANKS OF CREEKS AND STREAMS. THE HEAVY RAINS COULD ALSO TRIGGER ROCK 
AND MUDSLIDES IN STEEP TERRAIN.

DO NOT DRIVE YOUR VEHICLE INTO AREAS WHERE THE WATER COVERS THE
ROADWAY. THE WATER DEPTH MAY BE TOO GREAT TO ALLOW YOUR CAR TO CROSS
SAFELY. TWO FEET OF RUSHING WATER CAN CARRY AWAY MOST VEHICLES...
INCLUDING SUVS AND PICKUPS. VEHICLES CAUGHT IN RISING WATER SHOULD
BE ABANDONED QUICKLY. MOVE TO HIGHER GROUND.
