000 WGUS53 KMPX 081708 FFWMSP MNZ054-056-064-065-073-074-082000- FLASH FLOOD WARNING NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE TWIN CITIES/CHANHASSEN MN 1207 PM CDT WED MAY 8 2002 THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN CHANHASSEN HAS ISSUED A FLASH FLOOD WARNING FOR THE FOLLOWING COUNTIES IN WEST CENTRAL MINNESOTA...LAC QUI PARLE...CHIPPEWA...YELLOW MEDICINE...REDWOOD...BROWN AND RENVILLE COUNTIES UNTIL 300 PM THIS AFTERNOON. STRONG THUNDERSTORMS CAPABLE OF PRODUCING TORRENTIAL DOWNPOURS WITHIN A VERY SHORT SPAN WILL CONTINUE TO TRACK OVER PARTS OF WEST CENTRAL MINNESOTA DURING THE AFTERNOON. RECENT RAINS FROM LAST NIGHT AND POTENTIAL RAINFALL EXPECTED WITH THESE STORMS ARE LIKELY TO CAUSE SOME PONDING OF WATER OVER ROADWAYS. RUNOFF FROM THESE RAINS WILL ALSO CAUSE SOME MODERATE RISES ALONG SMALL CREEKS AND STREAMS. PEOPLE WITH INTERESTS...ESPECIALLY NEAR LOWLYING AREAS SHOULD MOVE TO HIGHER GROUND IMMEDIATELY. MOTORISTS SHOULD NOT ATTEMPT TO DRIVE THROUGH WATER OF UNKNOWN DEPTH. JVM
