* FLASH FLOOD WARNING FOR...
  PECOS COUNTY IN SOUTHWEST TEXAS

* UNTIL 900 PM CDT

* AT 600 PM CDT...WEATHER SERVICE RADAR INDICATED THUNDERSTORMS
  PRODUCING VERY HEAVY RAINFALL OVER WESTERN PECOS COUNTY...OR 
  ABOUT 15 MILES WEST OF FORT STOCKTON.  LITTLE MOVEMENT HAS BEEN
  NOTED WITH THIS STORM.

DO NOT DRIVE ACROSS FLOODED ROADWAYS. MOST FLASH FLOOD DEATHS OCCUR
IN AUTOMOBILES.

EXCESSIVE RUNOFF WILL INUNDATE ROADS AND FARM AND RANCH LAND. DO NOT

...A FLASH FLOOD WARNING CONTINUES FOR WESTERN PECOS COUNTY UNTIL 900
PM CDT...

AT 650 PM CDT...NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR CONTINUED TO 
INDICATE SLOW MOVING THUNDERSTORMS...PRODUCING VERY HEAVY RAINFALL 
15 MILES WEST OF FORT STOCKTON.  THE STORM WAS MOVING NORTHEAST AT 7 
MPH.

RADAR RAINFALL ESTIMATES OF 3-5 INCHES OF RAIN HAS FALLEN. 

HEAVY RAINFALL FROM THIS THUNDERSTORM WILL CAUSE FLOODING OF RURAL 
AREAS WEST OF FORT STOCKTON...INCLUDING INTERSTATE 10...U.S. 
HIGHWAYS 67 AND 285...AND FM 1776.  AT 629 PM CDT...BAR DITCHES 
ALONG HIGHWAY 285 ARE REPORTED TO BE FILLED...WITH WATER RUNNING 
OVER THE HIGHWAY.  PERSONS WHO MUST TRAVEL WEST OF FORT STOCKTON 
SHOULD BE ON THE ALERT FOR FLASH FLOODING.

THIS IS A DANGEROUS SITUATION.  IF FLASH FLOODING IS OBSERVED ACT 
QUICKLY  MOVE TO HIGHER GROUND TO ESCAPE FLOOD WATERS.  DO NOT 
ATTEMPT TO DRIVE OVER A FLOODED ROAD.  THE ROAD MAY BE WASHED OUT.
