THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN ST LOUIS HAS ISSUED A

* FLASH FLOOD WARNING FOR...
  SOUTHERN JEFFERSON COUNTY IN EAST CENTRAL MISSOURI

* UNTIL MIDNIGHT CDT

* AT 713 PM CDT...WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR SHOWED SEVERAL
  CLUSTERS OF THUNDERSTORMS PRODUCING VERY HEAVY RAIN OVER SOUTHERN 
  JEFFERSON COUNTY ALONG AND SOUTH OF A LINE FROM HERCULANEUM TO 
  DITTMER.  THESE STORMS HAVE BEEN DRIFTING SLOWLY TO THE NORTH AT 5 
  MPH.  RADAR ESTIMATES 2.5 TO 5 INCHES OF RAIN HAS FALLEN SINCE
  500 PM CLOSE TO THE INTERSECTION OF ROUTES C AND Y...OR JUST WEST
  OF HIGHWAY 21 BETWEEN DE SOTO AND HILLSBORO.

  ADDITIONAL THUNDERSTORMS THIS EVENING MAY PRODUCE ANOTHER 1 TO 3 
  INCHES OF RAINFALL.

* FLASH FLOODING CAN BE EXPECTED ACROSS THE AREA...AND WILL BE  
  AFFECTING RURAL PORTIONS OF SOUTHWEST JEFFESON COUNTY. 

IF FLASH FLOODING IS OBSERVED OR IMMINENT...MOVE QUICKLY TO HIGHER
GROUND. NEVER DRIVE INTO AN AREA WHERE WATER COVERS THE ROAD.

MOST DEATHS IN FLASH FLOODING OCCUR IN AUTOMOBILES DO NOT ATTEMPT TO
CROSS BRIDGES...DIPS...OR LOW WATER CROSSINGS IF WATER COVERS THE
ROADWAY. DO NOT DRIVE AROUND BARRICADES IF YOUR VEHICLE STALLS...
