FLASH FLOOD WARNING
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE LOUISVILLE KY
1116 PM EDT TUE JUN 4 2002

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN LOUISVILLE HAS ISSUED A

* FLASH FLOOD WARNING FOR...
  CASEY COUNTY IN SOUTH CENTRAL KENTUCKY

* UNTIL 230 AM EDT

* AT 1106 PM, WEATHER SERVICE RADAR INDICATED A BAND OF INTENSE
RAINFALL MOVING ACROSS PARTS OF CASEY COUNTY, WITH RAINFALL RATES
APPROACHING 2 TO 3 INCHES PER HOUR. THE AXIS OF THE HEAVIEST RAINS
IS FROM NORTH OF RHEBER, TO NEAR LIBERTY, TO YOSEMITE, SO THIS AREA
HAS THE HIGHEST POTENTIAL FOR FLASH FLOODING. DUE TO THE VERY
INTENSE NATURE OF THIS RAINFALL, FLASH FLOODING COULD OCCUR VERY
QUICKLY AND ROADS MAY BECOME IMPASSABLE, ESPECIALLY IN THE LIBERTY
AREA.

BE ESPECIALLY CAUTIOUS AT NIGHT WHEN IT IS HARDER TO RECOGNIZE THE
DANGERS OF FLOODS AND FLASH FLOODS. DO NOT DRIVE THROUGH FLOODED
ROADWAYS...IT MAY BE DIFFICULT TO JUDGE THE ACTUAL DEPTH OF THE
WATER. IF FLASH FLOODING IS OBSERVED ACT QUICKLY. MOVE TO HIGHER
GROUND TO ESCAPE FLOOD WATERS.
