THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN PEACHTREE CITY HAS ISSUED A

* FLASH FLOOD WARNING FOR...
  CENTRAL FULTON COUNTY IN NORTH CENTRAL GEORGIA

* UNTIL 1100 PM EDT

* AT 851 PM EDT...NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED
  VERY HEAVY RAIN OVER ATLANTA...MOVING SOUTH AT 5 MPH.

* THE STAGE ON PEACHTREE CREEK AT 830 PM WAS 15.1 FEET. FLOOD STAGE 
THERE IS 17 FEET. A CREST OF 17.5 FEET IS FORECAST AT PEACHTREE 
CREEK THIS EVENING.

EXCESSIVE RUNOFF FROM THIS STORM WILL CAUSE FLASH FLOODING OF OTHER 
SMALL CREEKS AND STREAMS...URBAN AREAS...HIGHWAYS...STREETS AND 
UNDERPASSES AS WELL AS OTHER DRAINAGE AREAS AND LOW LYING SPOTS.

BE ESPECIALLY CAUTIOUS AT NIGHT WHEN IT IS HARDER TO RECOGNIZE THE 
DANGERS OF FLOODS AND FLASH FLOODS. DO NOT DRIVE YOUR VEHICLE INTO 
AREAS WHERE THE WATER COVERS THE ROADWAY. THE WATER DEPTH MAY BE TOO 
GREAT TO ALLOW YOUR CAR TO CROSS SAFELY. TWO FEET OF RUSHING WATER 
CAN CARRY AWAY MOST VEHICLES...INCLUDING SPORT UTILITY VEHICLES AND 
PICKUPS. VEHICLES CAUGHT IN RISING WATER SHOULD BE ABANDONED 
QUICKLY. MOVE TO HIGHER GROUND.

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HAS CANCELLED THE FLASH FLOOD WARNING
FOR CENTRAL FULTON COUNTY AND FOR PEACHTREE CREEK. THE STORM 
PRODUCING THE VERY HEAVY RAIN HAS MOVED TO THE SOUTHWEST AND 
WEAKENED. THE LATEST STAGE AT PEACHTREE CREEK WAS 16.5 FEET AND THE 
STREAM WAS FALLING.
