NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE STATE COLLEGE PA
850 PM EDT THU APR 18 2002

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN STATE COLLEGE PA HAS ISSUED A

* FLASH FLOOD WARNING FOR...
  BEDFORD COUNTY IN PENNSYLVANIA

* UNTIL 1045 PM EDT.

* AT 850 PM...NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED A 
LINE OF THUNDERSTORMS WITH VERY HEAVY RAINFALL LOCATED FROM JUST 
WEST OF WELLS TANNERY...SOUTHWEST TO EVERETT AND BEDFORD.

THESE SLOW MOVING THUNDERSTORMS ARE PRODUCING RAINFALL RATES OF OVER 
ONE INCH PER HOUR IN THE WARNED AREA. RUNOFF FROM THIS EXCESSIVE 
RAINFALL WILL CAUSE FLASH FLOODING MAINLY ACROSS EAST CENTRAL 
BEDFORD COUNTY IN THE TOWNS OF EVERETT AND BREEZEWOOD.

THIS IS THE SAME AREA THAT RECEIVED HEAVY RAIN OF 1 TO 3 INCHES   
LATE THURSDAY AFTERNOON...WHICH CAUSED FLOODING OF AREAS ROADS...AND 
STREETS IN TOWN.  

DO NOT DRIVE YOUR VEHICLE INTO AREAS WHERE THE WATER COVERS THE
ROADWAY. VEHICLES CAUGHT IN RISING WATER SHOULD BE ABANDONED. MOVE TO
HIGHER GROUND.

BE ESPECIALLY CAUTIOUS AT NIGHT WHEN IT IS HARDER TO RECOGNIZE THE
DANGERS OF FLOODS AND FLASH FLOODS.

A FLASH FLOOD WARNING MEANS THAT FLOODING IS OCCURRING OR IS
IMMINENT. NEVER ATTEMPT TO CROSS HIGH WATER IN A VEHICLE OR ON FOOT
