THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN ALBUQUERQUE HAS ISSUED A

* FLASH FLOOD WARNING FOR...
  SOUTH CENTRAL CHAVES COUNTY IN SOUTHEAST NEW MEXICO

* UNTIL 130 AM MDT

* AT 1030 PM MDT...LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICIALS CONTINUE TO REPORT 
WATER COVERING U.S. HIGHWAY 285 AND NEW MEXICO STATE HIGHWAY 2 NEAR 
THE CHAVEZ AND EDDY COUNTY LINE.  WALNUT CREEK IS FLOWING OUT OF ITS 
BANKS AND THOSE HIGHWAYS HAVE BEEN CLOSED. NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE 
DOPPLER RADAR CONTINUES TO INDICATE MODERATE RAIN OVER SOUTH CHAVES 
COUNTY WHICH WILL FURTHER AGGREVATE THE FLOODING. STREET FLOODING IS 
POSSIBLE IN AND NEAR LAKE ARTHUR AND POSSIBLY HAGERMAN. LITTLE 
MOVEMENT OF THE RAIN IS NOTED.
 
DO NOT DRIVE INTO AREAS WHERE WATER COVERS THE ROADWAY. MANY FLASH 
FLOOD DEATHS OCCUR IN AUTOMOBILES.
