THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN SPRINGFIELD HAS ISSUED A

* FLASH FLOOD WARNING FOR...
  SOUTHERN GREENE COUNTY IN SOUTHWEST MISSOURI

* UNTIL 530 PM CDT

* AT 234 PM CDT...NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED   
  THUNDERSTORMS WITH VERY HEAVY RAINFALL EXTENDING FROM 
  SPRINGFIELD TO THE LAWRENCE COUNTY LINE...MOVING EAST AT 15 MPH. 
  DOPPLER RADAR ESTIMATED THAT UP TO 2 INCHES OF RAIN HAS FALLEN 
  OVER THE AREA ALREADY THIS AFTERNOON. TRAINING THUNDERSTORMS WILL 
  PRODUCE AN ADDITIONAL 1 TO 3 INCHES OF RAINFALL OVER SPRINGFIELD 
  AND THE SOUTHWEST SUBURBS.

* SLOW MOVING THUNDERSTORMS ARE PRODUCING TORRENTIAL RAINFALL IN THE
  WARNED AREA. RUNOFF FROM THIS EXCESSIVE RAINFALL WILL CAUSE FLASH
  FLOODING TO OCCUR. SOME LOCATIONS THAT WILL EXPERIENCE FLASH
  FLOODING INCLUDE...SPRINGFIELD...BATTLEFIELD...BROOKLINE AND
  REPUBLIC.


EXCESSIVE RUNOFF FROM THIS STORM WILL CAUSE FLASH FLOODING OF SMALL
CREEKS AND STREAMS...URBAN AREAS...HIGHWAYS...STREETS AND UNDERPASSES
AS WELL AS OTHER DRAINAGE AREAS AND LOW LYING SPOTS.
