THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN SPRINGFIELD HAS ISSUED A

* FLASH FLOOD WARNING FOR...
  SOUTHERN NEWTON COUNTY IN SOUTHWEST MISSOURI

* UNTIL 815 AM CDT

* AT 515 AM CDT...NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED   
  THUNDERSTORMS WITH VERY HEAVY RAINFALL NEAR NEOSHO...MOVING EAST   
  AT 5 MPH. DOPPLER RADAR ESTIMATED THAT UP TO TWO INCHES OF RAIN    
  HAS FALLEN...WITH AN ADDITIONAL ONE TO TWO INCHES EXPECTED OVER    
  THE NEXT HOUR.

* RUNOFF FROM THIS EXCESSIVE RAINFALL WILL CAUSE FLASH FLOODING TO   
  OCCUR. SOME LOCATIONS THAT WILL EXPERIENCE FLASH                   
  FLOODING INCLUDE...NEOSHO...SENECA...STELLA AND GRANBY.

LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICIALS REPORT THAT WATER IS STARTING TO 
ACCUMULATE ON ROADWAYS IN NEOSHO.

MOST DEATHS IN FLASH FLOODING OCCUR IN AUTOMOBILES. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO
CROSS BRIDGES...DIPS...OR LOW WATER CROSSINGS IF WATER COVERS THE
ROADWAY. NEVER TRY TO CROSS A FLOWING STREAM...EVEN A SMALL ONE...ON
FOOT.
