THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN SPRINGFIELD HAS ISSUED A

* FLASH FLOOD WARNING FOR...
  BENTON COUNTY IN CENTRAL MISSOURI
  HICKORY COUNTY IN CENTRAL MISSOURI

* UNTIL 1030 PM CDT

* AT 830 PM CDT...THE THUNDERSTORMS WHICH PRODUCED UP TO 4 INCHES OF 
RAIN ACROSS BENTON AND HICKORY COUNTIES THIS EVENING CONTINUED TO 
WEAKEN.  ANOTHER HALF INCH OF RAIN AND CONTINUING RUNOFF WILL 
HOWEVER KEEP FLOOD WATERS HIGH.

* THE BENTON COUNTY SHERIFF DEPARTMENTS REPORTED THAT TURKEY CREEK 
HAD FLOODED OVER SOUTH HIGHWAY 7 NEAR EDWARDS ALONG WITH OTHER 
SECONDARY ROADS.  HICKORY COUNTY SHERIFF ALSO REPORTED THAT NUMEROUS 
SECONDARY ROADS WERE ALSO FLOODED. 

EXCESSIVE RUNOFF FROM THIS STORM WILL CAUSE FLOODING OF SMALL CREEKS 
AND STREAMS...COUNTRY ROADS...AS WELL AS FARMLAND ALONG THE BANKS OF 
CREEKS AND STREAMS.

MOST DEATHS IN FLASH FLOODING OCCUR IN AUTOMOBILES. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO
CROSS LOW WATER CROSSINGS IF WATER COVERS THE ROADWAY. FLOODING IS 
ESPECIALLY DANGEROUS AFTER DARK.
