NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE SPRINGFIELD MO
435 AM CST WED FEB 14 2001

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN SPRINGFIELD HAS ISSUED A

* FLASH FLOOD WARNING FOR...
  SOUTHERN VERNON COUNTY IN WEST CENTRAL MISSOURI

* UNTIL 730 AM CST

* AT 435 AM CST...NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED  
  THUNDERSTORMS WITH VERY HEAVY RAINFALL COVERING THE SOUTHERN HALF 
  OF VERNON COUNTY. THE THUNDERSTORMS WERE NEARLY STATIONARY. 
  DOPPLER RADAR ESTIMATED THAT UP TO 2 INCHES OF RAIN HAS FALLEN 
  BETWEEN 330 AM AND 430 AM THIS MORNING.   

* SLOW MOVING THUNDERSTORMS ARE PRODUCING VERY HEAVY RAINFALL IN THE
  WARNED AREA. RUNOFF FROM THIS EXCESSIVE RAINFALL WILL CAUSE 
  FLASH FLOODING TO OCCUR. SOME LOCATIONS THAT WILL EXPERIENCE 
  FLASH FLOODING INCLUDE...MOUNDVILLE...BRONAUGH...MILO...AND 
  SHELDON.

BE ESPECIALLY CAUTIOUS AT NIGHT WHEN IT IS HARDER TO RECOGNIZE THE
DANGERS OF FLOODING. IF FLASH FLOODING IS OBSERVED ACT QUICKLY. MOVE
UP TO HIGHER GROUND TO ESCAPE FLOOD WATERS. DO NOT STAY IN AREAS
SUBJECT TO FLOODING WHEN WATER BEGINS RISING.
