THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN BLACKSBURG HAS ISSUED A

* FLASH FLOOD WARNING FOR...
  NORTHERN HENRY COUNTY IN SOUTH CENTRAL VIRGINIA
  INCLUDING THE CITY OF MARTINSVILLE

* UNTIL 630 PM EDT.

* AT 327 PM EDT...NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED   
  THUNDERSTORMS WITH VERY HEAVY RAINFALL 3-5 MILES SOUTHEAST OF
  BASSETT.  THE STORMS WERE NEARLY STATIONARY.

RADAR ESTIMATES 4 INCHES OF RAIN NORTHEAST OF MARTINSVILLE AND NEAR 
BASSETT HAVE ACCUMULATED SINCE 2:00 PM.

SLOW MOVING THUNDERSTORMS ARE PRODUCING TORRENTIAL RAINFALL IN THE 
WARNED AREA. RUNOFF FROM THIS EXCESSIVE RAINFALL WILL CAUSE FLASH 
FLOODING ALONG THE LOWER REACHES OF LITTLE REED CREEK...REED 
CREEK...BEAVER CREEK AND BOTH FORKS OF LEATHERWOOD CREEK.  URBAN 
FLOODING IS LIKELY IN COLLINSVILLE...MARTINSVILLE AND LEATHERWOOD. 


DO NOT DRIVE YOUR VEHICLE INTO AREAS WHERE THE WATER COVERS THE 
ROADWAY. VEHICLES CAUGHT IN RISING WATER SHOULD BE ABANDONED.  A 
FLASH FLOOD WARNING MEANS THAT FLOODING IS OCCURRING OR IS IMMINENTX. 
NEVER ATTEMPT TO CROSS HIGH WATER IN A VEHICLE OR ON FOOT!
