THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN BLACKSBURG HAS ISSUED A

* FLASH FLOOD WARNING FOR...
  TAZEWELL COUNTY IN SOUTHWEST VIRGINIA

* UNTIL 845 PM EDT.

* AT 650 PM EDT...NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED A
  THUNDERSTORM WITH VERY HEAVY RAINFALL 7 MILES NORTH OF TAZEWELL.   
  THE STORM WAS NEARLY STATIONARY. 

LOCATIONS THREATENED BY HEAVY RAIN THROUGH 845 PM EDT INCLUDE   
AREAS ALONG MUD AND LAUREL FORKS IN NORTHEAST TAZEWELL COUNTY...
ALSO THE COMMUNITIES OF MAXWELL...CLIFFIELD AND POUNDING MILL IN THE 
NORTH CENTRAL PORTION OF THE COUNTY.

SLOW MOVING THUNDERSTORMS ARE PRODUCING TORRENTIAL RAINFALL IN THE
WARNED AREA. RUNOFF FROM THIS EXCESSIVE RAINFALL WILL CAUSE FLASH 
FLOODING ALONG LAUREL AND MUD FORKS.

SMALL CREEKS AND STREAMS WILL RAPIDLY FLfOOD...POSSIBLY WASHING OUT 
ROADS AND FLOODING NEARBY LOW AREAS. DO NOT DRIVE YOUR VEHICLE INTO 
AREAS WHERE THE WATER COVERS THE ROADWAY. VEHICLES CAUGHT IN RISING 
WATER SHOULD BE ABANDONED.
