THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN UPTON NY HAS ISSUED A

* FLASH FLOOD WARNING FOR...
  ROCKLAND COUNTY IN SOUTHEAST NEW YORK
  
* UNTIL 930 AM EDT

* AT 623 AM EDT...THE MAHWAH RIVER AT SUFFERN HAS REACHED 4.08 FEET 
WHICH IS JUST ABOVE FLOOD STAGE OF 4 FEET. THIS SHARP RISE IN THE 
RIVER WAS THE RESULT OF HEAVY RAIN THAT OCCURRED ACROSS THE REGION 
OVERNIGHT. THIS IS QUITE LIKELY CAUSING ONLY SOME MINOR FLOODING 
ALONG THE RIVER...BUT MOTORIST ALONG NEARBY ROADS SHOULD STAY ALERT 
FOR POSSIBLE FLOODING. THE RIVER APPEARS TO CRESTING AT THIS TIME 
BUT IT COULD BEGIN TO RISE AGAIN AS SOME MORE RAIN MOVES ACROSS THE 
REGION THIS MORNING.

REMEMBER...A FLASH FLOOD WARNING MEANS THAT FLOODING IS OCCURRING OR 
IS IMMINENT. MOST FLASH FLOOD DEATHS OCCUR IN AUTOMOBILES. DO NOT 
ATTEMPT TO CROSS BRIDGES...DIPS...OR OTHER LOW SPOTS IF WATER COVERS 
THE ROADWAY. NEVER TRY TO CROSS A FLOWING STREAM...EVEN A SMALL 
ONE...ON FOOT. TO ESCAPE RISING WATER MOVE UP TO HIGHER GROUND.
