THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN ST LOUIS HAS ISSUED A

* FLASH FLOOD WARNING FOR...
  KNOX COUNTY IN NORTHEAST MISSOURI
  LEWIS COUNTY IN NORTHEAST MISSOURI

* UNTIL 215 AM CDT

* AT 1009 PM CDT...WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED A LINE OF
  THUNDERSTORMS PRODUCING VERY HEAVY RAINFALL EXTENDING FROM KNOX 
  CITY TO NORTH OF MEMPHIS.  THE STORMS ARE MOVING SOUTHEAST ALONG
  THIS LINE...CAUSING THE HEAVY RAIN TO REMAIN OVER THE SAME AREA.
  RADAR ESTIMATES THAT OVER 2 INCHES OF RAIN HAS ALREADY FALLEN IN A
  SHORT TIME.  AN ADDITIONAL 2 TO 4 INCHES MAY FALL IN THE WARNED
  AREA BY 1 AM.

* FLASH FLOODING CAN BE EXPECTED ACROSS THE AREA...AND WILL BE   
  AFFECTING GREENSBURG...COLONY...EDINA...KNOX CITY...NEWARK...
  LA BELLE AND LEWISTOWN.

MOST DEATHS IN FLASH FLOODING OCCUR IN AUTOMOBILES DO NOT ATTEMPT TO
CROSS BRIDGES...DIPS...OR LOW WATER CROSSINGS IF WATER COVERS THE
ROADWAY. DO NOT DRIVE AROUND BARRICADES IF YOUR VEHICLE STALLS...
ABANDON IT IMMEDIATELY AND SEEK HIGHER GROUND.

BE ESPECIALLY CAUTIOUS AT NIGHT WHEN IT IS HARDER TO RECOGNIZE THE
DANGERS OF FLOODING. ACT QUICKLY IF FLASH FLOODING IS OBSERVED. MOVE
TO HIGHER GROUND TO ESCAPE FLOOD WATERS. DO NOT STAY IN AREAS SUBJECT
TO FLOODING WHEN WATER BEGINS RISING.
