THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HAS ISSUED A

* FLASH FLOOD WARNING FOR...
  WESTERN RANKIN COUNTY IN CENTRAL MISSISSIPPI
  EASTERN HINDS COUNTY IN CENTRAL MISSISSIPPI

* UNTIL 845 AM CDT

* AT 647 AM CDT...WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED   
THUNDERSTORMS PRODUCING VERY HEAVY RAIN...EXTENDING FROM DOWNTOWN 
JACKSON SOUTHEAST INTO RICHLAND AND FLORENCE. THESE STORMS ARE 
MOVING REPEATEDLY OVER THE SAME AREA AND RADAR ESTIMATES INDICATE UP 
TO 4 INCHES HAVE FALLEN SINCE 5 AM. NORTHBOUND SECTIONS OF HIGHWAY 
49 HAVE BEEN CLOSED IN THE RICHLAND AREA AND A FEW HOMES HAVE BEEN 
FLOODED. ADDITIONAL RAINFALL OF ONE INCH IS POSSIBLE AND THIS WILL 
AGGRAVATE THE FLOODING. 

A FLASH FLOOD WARNING MEANS THAT FLOODING IS IMMINENT. IT IS
IMPORTANT TO KNOW WHERE YOU ARE RELATIVE TO STREAMS...RIVERS...OR
CREEKS WHICH CAN BECOME KILLERS IN HEAVY RAINS.

MOST DEATHS IN FLASH FLOODING OCCUR IN AUTOMOBILES. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO
CROSS BRIDGES...DIPS...OR LOW SPOTS IF WATER COVERS THE ROADWAY.
