THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN GREENVILLE-SPARTANBURG HAS ISSUED A

* FLASH FLOOD WARNING FOR...
  RABUN COUNTY IN NORTHEAST GEORGIA

* UNTIL 430 AM EDT

* AT 125 AM...WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR SHOWED A NEARLY STATIONARY
  AREA OF SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS...COVERING MOST OF RABUN COUNTY.
  AN AUTOMATED RAIN GAGE AT MOUNTAIN CITY HAD REPORTED 2.1 INCHES 
  OF RAINFALL THUS FAR OVERNIGHT. RADAR TRENDS INDICATE THE AXIS
  OF HEAVIEST RAIN WAS SHIFTING AWAY FROM MOUNTAIN CITY...TOWARD 
  BLACK ROCK MOUNTAIN STATE PARK...AND CLAYTON. 
  
  WITH AT LEAST A COUPLE OF MORE HOURS OF INTENSE...UPSLOPE RAIN
  YET TO COME...STREAMS AND CREEKS IN NORTHERN AND CENTRAL RABUN
  COUNTY MAY EXPERIENCE RAPID RISES TO NEAR BANKFULL...IF NOT
  OVERFLOWING THEIR BANKS ALTOGETHER. THIS EXCESSIVE RAIN WILL 
  LIKELY CAUSE FLOODING ALONG SCOTT CREEK IN CLAYTON...WITH
  STANDING WATER LIKELY ALONG HIGHWAYS 76 AND 2 WEST OF TOWN...TO 
  NEAR LAKE BURTON.

DO NOT DRIVE YOUR VEHICLE INTO AREAS WHERE THE WATER COVERS THE
ROADWAY. THE WATER DEPTH MAY BE TOO GREAT TO ALLOW YOUR CAR TO CROSS
SAFELY. VEHICLES CAUGHT IN RISING WATER SHOULD BE ABANDONED QUICKLY.
MOVE TO HIGHER GROUND. EVEN MODERN SPORT UTILITY VEHICLES CANNOT BE
SAFELY DRIVEN THROUGH FLOOD WATERS.

A FLASH FLOOD WARNING MEANS THAT FLOODING IS IMMINENT. IT IS
IMPORTANT TO KNOW WHERE YOU ARE RELATIVE TO STREAMS...RIVERS...OR
