NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE BUFFALO NY
850 PM EST FRI FEB 9 2001

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN BUFFALO HAS ISSUED A

* FLOOD WARNING FOR ICE JAM FLOODING ON CAZENOVIA CREEK IN
  CENTRAL ERIE COUNTY IN WESTERN NEW YORK
  IN THE CITY OF BUFFALO

* UNTIL 500 AM EST

* AT 845 PM EST...A LARGE ICE JAM CONTINUES ALONG CAZENOVIA
  CREEK IN BUFFALO IN THE VICINITY OF CAZENOVIA PARK AND THE STEVENSON
  STREET BRIDGE.

THE THREAT OF ICE JAM FLOODING WILL CONTINUE THROUGH THE NIGHT IN 
THESE AREAS UNTIL THE JAM BREAKS. AT 800 PM THE GAGE UPSTREAM AT 
EBENEZER WAS AT 8.99 FEET. FLOOD STAGE IS 10 FEET. THE CREEK CRESTED 
AT EBENEZER AT 10.90 FEET AT 7PM. THE FLOODING HAS RECEDED IN WEST 
SENECA.  

A FLOOD WARNING MEANS THAT FLOODING IS IMMINENT OR OCCURRING. IF YOU 
ARE IN THE WARNING AREA MOVE TO HIGHER GROUND IMMEDIATELY. RESIDENTS 
LIVIN-G ALONG STREAMS AND CREEKS SHOULD TAKE IMMEDIATE PRECAUTIONS TO 
PROTECT PROPERTY.
