THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HAS ISSUED A

* FLASH FLOOD WARNING FOR...
  MADISON COUNTY IN NORTH CENTRAL ALABAMA

* UNTIL 1000 PM CDT

* AT 645 PM CDT...WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED VERY 
  HEAVY RAIN OVER NORTH MADISON COUNTY.  THIS ACTIVITY IS MOVING VERY
  SLOWLY EASTWARD AT 5 MPH.  

EXCESSIVE RUNOFF FROM THIS STORM WILL CAUSE FLASH FLOODING OF SMALL
CREEKS AND STREAMS...URBAN AREAS...HIGHWAYS...STREETS AND UNDERPASSES
AS WELL AS OTHER DRAINAGE AREAS AND LOW LYING SPOTS.

2 INCHS OF RAIN HAS ALREADY FALLEN ACROSS THE NORTHERN PORTIONS OF
THE COUNTY AND PONDING OF WATER ON STREETS IS CAUSING PROBLEMS.
MORE RAINFALL IS EXPECTED OVER THE NEXT COUPLE OF HOURS...ADDING TO THE
FLOODING PROBLEMS ALREADY IN PLACE. A FLASH FLOOD WARNING MEANS THAT
FLOODING IS IMMINENT OR OCCURRING. IF YOU ARE IN THE WARNING AREA MOVE 
TO HIGHER GROUND IMMEDIATELY. RESIDENTS LIVING ALONG STREAMS AND CREEKS 
SHOULD TAKE IMMEDIATE PRECAUTIONS TO PROTECT LIFE AND PROPERTY. DO NOT 
ATTEMPT TO CROSS SWIFTLY FLOWING WATERS OR WATERS OF UNKNOWN DEPTH BY FOOT
OR BY AUTOMOBILE. IF YOUR VEHICLE STALLS, ABANDON IT IMMEDIATELY AND SEEK
HIGHER GROUND.
