* FLASH FLOOD WARNING FOR THE FOLLOWING COUNTIES IN SOUTHWEST MISSOURI...

* AT 1225 AM CDT...NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED
THUNDERSTORMS WITH VERY HEAVY RAINFALL EXTENDING FROM JOPLIN TO
SPRINGFIELD...FROM NEOSHO TO CASSVILLE...AND OVER SOUTHERN MCDONALD
COUNTY. DOPPLER RADAR ESTIMATED THAT RAINFALL RATES OF ONE TO TWO
INCHES PER HOUR WERE OCCURRING WITH THE STORMS.
* THE THUNDERSTORMS WILL CONTINUE TO REDEVELOP AND INTENSIFY OVER THE
WARNED AREA. SINCE THE GROUND IS ALREADY SATURATED FROM RAINFALL
EARLIER TODAY...RUNOFF FROM THIS EXCESSIVE RAINFALL WILL LIKELY
CAUSE FLASH FLOODING TO OCCUR. SOME LOCATIONS THAT WILL EXPERIENCE FLASH
FLOODING INCLUDE...JOPLIN...SPRINGFIELD...MOUNT VERNON...MILLER...MONETT
...NOEL...AND NEOSHO.
BE ESPECIALLY CAUTIOUS AT NIGHT WHEN IT IS HARDER TO RECOGNIZE THE
DANGERS OF FLOODING. IF FLASH FLOODING IS OBSERVED ACT QUICKLY. MOVE
UP TO HIGHER GROUND TO ESCAPE FLOOD WATERS. DO NOT STAY IN AREAS
SUBJECT TO FLOODING WHEN WATER BEGINS RISING. DO NOT DRIVE INTO AREAS WHERE
WATER COVERS THE ROAD. FIND AN ALTERNATE ROUTE.
