THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN SAN FRANCISCO HAS ISSUED A

* FLASH FLOOD WARNING FOR...
  CENTRAL AND EASTERN SANTA CRUZ COUNTY IN CENTRAL CALIFORNIA

* UNTIL 915 PM PST

* AT AT 6 PM HEAVY RAIN CONTINUED FALLING IN CENTRAL AND EASTERN
  SANTA CRUZ COUNTY. AUTOMATED RAIN GAUGES INDICATED RAIN FALLING AT
  THE RATE OF HALF AN INCH AN HOUR IN THE SANTA CRUZ MOUNTAINS.

* THE HEAVY RAIN IN THE SANTA CRUZ MOUNTAINS WAS CAUSING
  SOQUEL CREEK TO RISE RAPIDLY.  THE CREEK IS EXPECTED TO GO ABOVE
  FLOOD STAGE AT SOQUEL BY 7 PM.




BE ESPECIALLY CAUTIOUS AT NIGHT WHEN IT IS HARDER TO RECOGNIZE THE
DANGERS OF FLASH FLOODS. IF FLASH FLOODING IS OBSERVED...
ACT QUICKLY. MOVE UP TO ESCAPE FLOOD WATERS. DO NOT STAY IN AREAS
SUBJECT TO FLOODING WHEN WATER BEGINS RISING. IT IS VERY DIFFICULT
AT NIG8HT TO TELL HOW MUCH WATER IS ON ROADS. MOTORISTS SHOULD NOT
DRIVE THROUGH WATER OF UNKNOWN DEPTH.
